Subtitles turn on/switch languages by itself

I've got a DVD that I've ripped to an ISO. When I go to play it back,
at certain points in the movie, the subtitles automatically turn
themselves on, and switch language on their own. I can start the movie
10 seconds before a specific point. I'll go to check the subtitles and
the OSD will say "Subtitle 1: English Off". Then when it hits that
certain point, the subtitles come on in english, then switch to french
a second later (the audio itself stays in English). When I press the
button to toggle the subtitle it now says "Subtitle 5: French Off". I
can repeat this every time. It happens on both of my frontends (both
running 0.21 fixes)
The only thing I'm seeing in the frontend logs when this happens is:

Any idea what is going on?
