Yes naturally, but I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I am suggesting that
there is no inherent difference in watching a show you got via an rss
feed and a show you recorded from your local network affiliate.

In fact in NZ the rss feed shows (that are put there for download by
their creators) are more legal to keep long term than stuff recorded
from traditional TV (that become infringing if they are kept for "any
longer than is reasonably necessary for viewing or listening to the
recording at a more convenient time")

That's just plain silly.

Funny, that's exactly how I was going to respond to your email but I
came back with facts instead. ;)

You wouldn't need perl bindings, per se... you would just need mysql bindings, which most languages have these days.

You'd need a way to send metadata. You don't *need* perl bindings at
all but we all remember how terrible it was when all perl scripts
simply used mysql bindings for everything. Or do you want to go back
to a time when the database changes and all supporting scripts have to
be updated to accommodate?

If we were using stored procedures, you would be eliminating many of those
issues by having the smarts that were previously in the bindings
resided within the database.

I don't really care, I was just pointing out that perl bindings are
just one means to an end.
