Renaming individual recordings.

Hello,

I have been looking at methods of renaming an individual recordings title.

Not rename all my files, not archive them, and not move them.

It seems to be a basic piece of functionality that should exist that I
just cannot find.

Any pointers to a script or a hotkey or dialogue box I have missed?

R.

I haven't used this myself, but I recall seeing a post about
mythrename.pl. Here's the link to the Wiki article on it:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythrename.pl

I hope it's what you want.

Be careful, run it with --help if you want to see all the options. If
you run it without options it goes ahead and renames your files in a
default format. I found out the hard way.

Harry ,

I have seen mythrename.pl.

It does not allow renaming (in the database) of the recording. It
renames the recording files or creates symlinks which point to the
original files.

What I want is to rename a specific recording in the database. Is ther e
away to do this via the frontend or do I need to editi the database
directly or via a script?

You mean the titles that show up in watch recordings?

If so, "watch recordings" select a recording, right arrow, go down to "recording
options" then go down to "change recording title".

In the frontend, highlight the recording, hit I ( that is "I" as in
Information), highlight "Recording Options", hit ENTER, highlight "Change
Recording Title".

That should do it.

Yes, yes I do. That was too simple. Sorry for troubling you. I knew I
must have missed something.
Recording options doesn't seem like a logical place to me, but there you go.

Ray,

It is simple, but it is not in a location I would have expected.

I only found it because I saw someone else ask about it, and I read the
response. I don't think many people will find it if they looked for it.
