Changing Tuners

Changing Tuners

Have the keyboard buttons for changing tuners and inputs changed in .21? I have a PVR-500 and a PVR-150 and am unable to change inputs via the C key or the current tuner via the Y key.

Yes. You have to assign a key (Edit Keys in Myth Frontend) to cycle
through tuners. The preferred way of changing inputs is to hit M(enu)
and choose Switch Input, then select from the available inputs there.
Each card can have more than 1 input so cycling tuners makes less
sense than changing inputs.

I know the Y key works in my version of 0.21 but that was a svn
version from mid February.

A question along those lines... I have a single HDHR so I have two
tuners and two inputs. So Tuner 1 and Input 1 are the same and Tuner 2
and Input 2 are the same. Should I change tuners or inputs? I would
think they would have the same effect but one may be preferrable over
the other...

Since each of your tuners has a simple input, either will work the
same as the other. I happen to have a pcHDTV-5500 with 3 virtual
tuners so when I change input, I cycle through the virtual tuners
before getting to my next one and that's annoying so I press M and
pick the input I want to switch to.

Of course, the best answer as we all know is to stop using LiveTV and
just watch what's been recorded. ;)

In all seriousness, you should probably just use the Program Guide
which changing channels in LiveTV and let Myth decide which input/
tuner to use when you hit the channel to watch. That way you don't
push off any more important recordings by mistake. It will tell you if
you're trying to do something stupid like watch an Infomercial when
your favorite TV show is about to record on another channel and needs
that tuner you're going to use.

As it turns out, the Y and C keys are still setup to change the card and input, respectively. It is just not working.

My MythWeb says:

1110 programs, using 7.8 TB (2 months 5 days 15 hrs 35 mins) out of
9.2 TB (1004 GB free).

I have never, ever felt the need to surf live TV.

Yes, my system is an extreme case. Storage is so cheap nowadays,
though, that there's no reason why any MythTV setup can't have, say,
500GB of space. Even when (like my system) the vast majority of the
recordings are in high definition, that's still a good ~100 hours of
recordings. I never felt the need to surf live TV during the several
years my TiVo had about that many hours of (standard-definition)
recordings, either.

Must not be married to someone that is at home with a new baby and has
no idea what she wants to watch. Also must not be sharing two HD
cable boxes over 5 televisions throughout the house.

Face it, folks - people have needs for Live TV. I really don't
understand people's need to act like those that are using Live TV are
"wrong", because they don't understand's others' needs to use this
feature.

Seagate 500 GB PATA or SATA drive with 5 year warranty at Frys for $80
this weekend. :-)

Over Memorial Day (USA) weekend the 750 GB drive was $99, which is even
lower in $/GB. Still waiting for the 1 TB to come down under $140.

I was happy that they broke $200. I'll be building an 8-drive Bacula
server in a couple weeks...

Anyone got a part number or link for those slide-in trays for SATA
drivers where all you have to put on the drive is a couple screws with
big heads?
