Auto transcode not working

Hi

I currently have a mythtv backend set up on my Debian Etch server, using a Nova-TD dual DVB-T USB tuner. I do not have a real frontend set up yet, so I am using a combination of MythWeb and MythTV Player from my Windows XP box. I have no problems watching TV, recording, commflagging (including automaticaly), skipping commercials, or transcoding manualy from MythWeb. However, although I select Auto transcode in the recording options in mythweb, it doesn't do it.

I have looked through the logs to see if I can find a solution, and am here as a last resort. I need this to work, mainly because (at least using MythTVPlayer) I cannot seek within a recording from a high bitrate channel. I also dont want to waste space having 2GB/hr from these channels. Nothing is mentioned in the logs at all about transcoding except where I manualy start it.

Please help!

Regards
Mouse

I'm in the same boat. I've set auto-transcode both from mythweb, and
from the MythFrontend, and it doesn't do it. Actually ran out of space
this weekend while I was gone, so it would have been nice to shrink
some of those 6.5gb 1hr episodes to 1.1gb like happens when I manually
queue it.

As an example, here's a successful MANUAL transcode, from the jobqueue:

| 10524 | 1081 | 2008-05-15 16:00:00 | 2008-05-18 08:21:12 |
1 | 0 | 1 | 272 | 2008-05-18 13:30:16 | backend1 |
RENAME_TO_NUV | Low Quality: 6.5 GB => 1.1 GB | 2008-05-18 08:21:12 |

Here's what I see in the 'record' table:

mysql> select recordid,title,autotranscode from record where title
like '%martha%';
+----------+--------------------------------+---------------+
| recordid | title | autotranscode |
+----------+--------------------------------+---------------+
| 2748 | The Martha Stewart Show | 1 |
+----------+--------------------------------+---------------+

Thoughts?

You need to set up your recording profile parameters.

Go to:

Utilities/Setup -> Setup -> TV Settings -> Recording Profiles -> MPEG-2 Encoders
(or similar)

Make sure that all of your hardware encoders have the 'Enable
auto-transcode after recording' enabled.
