It should really be called MythGetYourLinuxBoxPwned

In the sourcecode there are calls to stuff like 'sudo ffmpeg' and 'sudo
wget'. Not generally a good idea to have a user program acting rooty,
is it? Or am I just being picky?

yes you are write.
i drop couples of e-mails to the owner of the project, and he told me that they still in development state, so latter they will solve all of these issues,

but i have another concern regarding the YouTube plug-in, if you run mythfrontend then try to open any items from youtube menu (Recently added, top favorites, or even make a search) this plug-in start to download the required file to your Video Directory then convert it to MPEG so later you can see it any number of times. so my questions is it legal to download the YouTube video to your machine?
please look at this link (http://www.richapps.de/?p=39)

RE: new YouTube plugin for MythTV [In reply to]

sorry for blank responce

The YouTube plug-in in this project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/heliocreek/) is diffrent than MythBrowser, it use the RSS feeds provided from YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/rssls) to bring the viewed files, then download and convert the selected FLV to MEPG then save it to your local Video Folder just in case you need to see it later,

regarding your questions about MythBrowser you can use this work arround http://threebit.net/mail-archive/mythtv-users/msg29142.html to view YouTube in your Browser from MythTV

One has to wonder why in the world would *non-Windows* developers use
root for this purpose. They must have a deep magical knowledge that I
have not yet reached. Or that I threw away a long time ago ;-)

Maybe they're trying to avoid skipping and stuttering by raising the
priority? A normal user can't do that. I used to run CD burner apps
as root for that reason -- raising the priority helped prevent
"burning a coaster" due to buffer underruns.

Correct me if I wrong, but I think one application can get the root
privileges at the start in order to call the proper function(s) to
change the priority for itself and then relinquish those rights. I
think that's how X operates as I would doubt that X runs as root all the
time. Other apps are also doing that and the ones in the security
field makes it clear that the root rights are relinquished as soon as
they did what they had to do, usually at the launch of the application.
