Looks like the actual issue was bad permissions on my dummy video TS
files. Sorry about that. (I'm getting a strange sense of deja-vu about
this; I may submit a patch to log a message in this case to save
myself future embarrassment).

Anyone watching or recording BBC radio on DVB-T should probably still
rescan, if they haven't already; that seems to be a real problem and I
had a failed recording before I upgraded (on Thursday) which is
probably related to it.

BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, and 4 migrated from mux A to mux B on Wednesday,
October 3rd 2007, requiring a rescan:

Hmm, even with a rescan I still can't get the BBC Radio ones! Still [L_S].

Others working!

I'm off Sutton Coldfield with good signal.

Hmm, well, this is the error for the BBC R2... The haven't changed the
SID have they?

I must admit, despite other people commenting on the difficulties with
scanning in the UK, I've never had any problems. I've always [including
the E4 C4+1 etc, recently], just stopped the backend process, ran
mythtv-setup and used the channel scanner to run a full scan on both
DVB-T cards. Mind you, that's with DVB and EIT - in the 'old' days when
Myth 0.8 was around and I used an analogue card with the pre-UK-RT
grabber, [Ananova? Can't remember!] there was always a faff getting it
set up - but then things didn't change a lot unless one moved transmitter!

I wonder if I've finally got to the point of deleting stuff and
re-adding it?

I've deleted both my capture cards with the "Delete all" option, then
deleted all channels using the channel scanner and re-scanned. I had to
reconnect my input connections as well.

During this, I also changed [for experimentation's sake] and ticked the
setting for Always under Use Fast Tuning, and de-selected Wait for SEQ,
and ticked Open DVB on demand. The last of these was to make
troubleshooting this easier without shutting the backend down to free
the devices.

In any case, I now get [La_] Partial Lock rather than the [L_S] as
before, but the log error looks the same:

Any further ideas?

I'm going to see if I can dump the PAT and PMT and have a look. Been a
good few months since I left the job where I had to write these by hand
[for Teleste kit] and it's amazing how quickly one forgets...

I think so. My backup from before the change appears to have 14400 as
the service ID for R2, whereas now it is 18560.

That's pretty much been the case for me too, though sorting out a config
file for scan for the Mendip transmitter took ages initially (and then I
discovered that our existing aerial wasn't really up to scratch as far
as DVB-T cards were concerned, though it worked mostly fine with an STB
for the previous owners).

AFAIR with that one I just patched the database directly, though I'd
agree that it's probably easier just to rescan. I've usually found it
easier to use scan to get a channels.conf file and import that though.
For some reason I did find I was getting occasional core dumps when
using the normal scan at one point. It's quite possible that was more
to do with the particular dvb-t card I was using at the time though and
now I just continue using that method because it's always worked :)

The bleb and ananova scanners are the two I recall. I have to admit
that I don't recall how hard it was setting the channels up -- other
than my fairly recent switch to a front-end/back-end DVB-T setup, I'd
not touched my analogue system since we last moved, three and a half
years ago.

Re: DVB-T radio is working with SVN trunk [In reply to]

:-) Good stuff...

I'm seeing the change you've mentioned - BBC R2 is now on Mux B with SID
18560. Despite dropping my capture cards and deleting all the channels,
I'm now seeing both old and new in the database! So that's probably the
reason it doesn't work.

I would have though deleting the channels and capture devices would have
dropped these entries?

The channel scanner has worked fine for me since late last year,
although I did get a crash from it this morning, for the first time! A
second run worked okay.

On a different note, I'm impressed with the fast tuning option, having
never used it before. I seems to lock quite quickly - as quick now for a
change of mux as it used to be for a channel change on the same mux.

Deleting the duplicate entries on the old SIDs has fixed that.

Odd really, that this is the first time this has happened for me,
despite all the previous scans being okay... I wonder if it's related to
the crash I had whilst scanning?

Anyhow, it works - wait and see for the next move of stuff in
November... :-)

I guess it's possible. I deleted all channels and rescanned from a new
channels.conf file for the latest changes and it all worked fine for me.

I do wish they'd stop dicking about with this stuff. I just want
something I can "fire and forget". What's the point of better
technology if it means more work, after all? If it's going to be
a regular thing I might have to look at making it all happen
automagically.
