Looks like the actual issue was bad permissions on my dummy video TS files. Sorry about that. (I'm getting a strange sense of deja-vu about this; I may submit a patch to log a message in this case to save myself future embarrassment). Anyone watching or recording BBC radio on DVB-T should probably still rescan, if they haven't already; that seems to be a real problem and I had a failed recording before I upgraded (on Thursday) which is probably related to it.
