Question about the LiveTV buffer location

I'm having a problem trying to find and change the location of where
the livetv buffer is in mythtv. I've done some searching and can't
seem to find anything relevant. I did see a reference to /var/cache/
mythtv/ but when watching livetv I am not seeing any files in this
directory.

My concern is that this now shares the same location as the
recordings directory. Which for me, is on a remote file server. I
would much rather have the livetv caching done locally per mythtv box.

I remember there used to be an entry for it in the setup menu, but I
no longer see this. Is there a settings menu I'm missing or command
line switch I can use to control where the livetv buffer is? Does
anyone have any ideas?

-Mike

If you're running a recent version (within the last few months) there
is an option in mythtv-setup to choose different storage locations.
One of the storage groups is LiveTV. Put it wherever you like.

Can you expand on that at all? I am running the latest version of
mythtv, 20.2. But in the mythtv-setup menu I am only seeing
"Directory to hold recordings", which is under the General menu.
I am not seeing "storage groups" listed under any other of mythtv-
setup menu's.

The only place I see LiveTV specific options is in Mythtv >
Utilities/Setup > Setup > TV Settings > Recording Profiles > MPEG-2
Encoders > Live TV. But still no options for storage groups or
locations.

Sorry, I guess I need to specify "recent". I meant from svn-trunk.
20.2 does not have the storage groups patch in it as far as I know.
Before storage groups, there was no way to differentiate between
where Live TV recordings and other recordings were kept. Your only
option is to upgrade to a version that includes storage groups.

Ah, that will save me pulling out my hair looking for the "storage
groups" menu. Looks like that will be a project for another day. My
main concern was getting things switched over to schedulesdirect.

Thanks,
-Mike

Re: Question about the LiveTV buffer location [In reply to]

Speaking of the Storage Groups... Since I had to upgrade anyway, for SD
support, I went ahead and decided to take the plunge and try to install
the latest 'trunk'(?) from SVN. It worked! I even got SD all setup and
going without any hassles whatsoever.

However!

I really wanted to check out Storage Groups. But, when I go into setup
and try to setup the LiveTV storage group, it immediately takes me back
out one menu level and doesnt save the changes I attempted to make.

How can I figure out why its doing that, and how to go about fixing it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
