Mandrake91, Lirc and the PVR250....Bad combo?

I'm running on Mandrake 9.1 with a PVR-250 and for the life of my I
can't get a response from irw after installing lirc. I've been
struggling with this for a couple of days now.

I've followed all of the myth and lirc doc very carefully. Lirc
compiles fine (latest CVS code). I've added the lircd.conf (from ivtv)
to /etc. I've started the lircd_dev and lirc_i2c modules and added the
appropriate lines to the modules.conf file.

I just can't get anything to happen when I start irw. It just sits
there, not reporting even a single character as I feverishly press the
buttons on the remote (the new light gray remote). There aren't even
any errors in the /var/log/lircd file!

I know that the remote and receiver both work because I dual-boot to
WindowsXP and they run fine over there.

Does anyone have this combo? Is there a trick to it?

Thanks,

Aaron
