Preview errors in mythbackend.log

My wife has been reporting some intermittent problems with the MythTV
box (frontend/backend combo) in our bedroom, so I started inspecting
the backend log files.
In there I find intermittent errors that say "Preview Error: Previewer
file '/xxx/xxx.mpg' is not valid." Here is a snippet of the log
containing some events with the error and some without.
Also in the middle there is a message that says: "QSettings::sync:
filename is null/empty".

Can anyone shed some light as to the cause of these errors. Is there
something in my setup that I can modify to make these go away? Or are
these software problems that need to be corrected.
A little on the configuration: This frontend/backend box is running
Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty). The MythTV software is compiled from SVN very
recently. The system is connected to a Motorola DCT-6xxx set top box
via firewire. This is a slave backend.
Any help is appreciated.
