mythfrontend crash -- "stack smashing detected"

Hello!

I've run into a problem recently. It started with version 0.19 about
a week ago, and upgrading to 0.20 didn't help. It goes like this:

vid[at]toybox ~ $ ps auxw | grep myth
mythtv 11090 0.0 1.0 190356 22804 ? Ssl 06:24 0:00 /usr/
bin/mythbackend --verbose all --logfile /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log
vid 11572 0.0 1.0 58108 21120 ? Sl 06:25 0:00 /usr/
bin/mythlcdserver -v none

*** stack smashing detected ***: mythfrontend terminated
Aborted

I've stripped my installation (on Gentoo) down to the basic mythtv
package with no plugins. I've even removed the themes and rebuilt
with only ALSA support; same problem.

I'm wondering how to go about tracking this down. And before you
ask, no, I was dumb and forgot to back up the 0.19 database. I can't
see anything amiss in the mythbackend logs, but I'm not sure I know
what to look for.
