any one using Nvidia 8774 driver

I want to reduce the "tearing" effect for HDTV output and therefor
hoping to upgrade to the latest Nvidia Driver to see if if fixes or
improves this issue.

Any problems for FC4 and the latest Nvidia driver?

Or Any suggestion for reduce the tearing effect for HD1080i TV out? or
improving image?
or example nvidia-settings-rc

Thanks

I can't say I've noticed any differences as with the earlier version

Turn on(or off?) xv Blitter (or is it opengl blitter?) and you should not see tearing anymore...

I'm using 8774 and didn't notice any improvemt (or degration) over the old version (was it 8768 or something?)..

I don't know how to fix the jagged lines stuff (with interlaced video) but so far i'm learnt to deal with it. :o

theres no changes that would affect what Myth uses. Better OpenGL 2.0
support in the 9000 series though, when it comes out, and eventually
Daniel will be modifying code to take advantage of some of the new
stuff to allow for color OSD, etc.

use a deinterlace filter.

What version are you currently using? Is it one with broken OpenGL
vsync? If so, get a version whose OpenGL vsync works and enable that
for smooth delivery of frames.

Note, though, that if you have Xv working properly, you shouldn't be
getting tearing.

I'm using the 8762 driver ie N-1 version, but in an older version I had to
set some vsync to blank to get this HD output working (note only affects HD
output not svideo etc...), where is this Xv setting again?

There's no setting for Xv. Xv is used if your driver and hardware
support it. Therefore, the "setting" is ensuring you've properly
installed your drivers/hardware.

Yeechang,
Are you using DVI, along with Vblank? I've found that when I combine
the two, I end up with X locking up on me. Not sure if it also relates
to the fact that I am doing 1080i output.

Using VGA out through a vga->component converter works for me, but just
doesn't look as good, and doesn't sync right with the graphical boot
loader in Ubuntu. For now, I have just been living with the tearing, but
don't know how much longer I can stand it...

I updated my kernel to 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5, Myth from
atrpms, and my Nvidia driver to 8774 from Livna. I
had to update my XvMC lib link in /usr/lib manually:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/nvidia/libXvMCNVIDIA.so.1.0.8774
libXvMC.so

Unfortunately, the video locks after a few second of
playback during "live" viewing or previously recorded
shows.

I haven't had much time to work on it, but I'd just as
soon return to 8762 as it was working well but simply
running NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run did not set
things back! :(

I advise caution WRT 8774. I guess the atrpms 8774
package is out too but, like I said, I haven't had
much time to play with it.

I believe you'll want to install the 8774 drivers first by running the
.run command with the --uninstall switch. This worked for me when
going from the legacy drivers to the new ones.

Thanks, Matt. I think I tried it with and without the
--uninstall switch and with and without removing the
livna kernel mod 8774 packages first. I'll try it
again.

Once I put dri back into my xorg.conf file, 8774
started to work---sorta. It freezes or skips if Sync
to VBlank is enabled in either OpenGL or X Server
XVideo settings. This was not the case with 8762. I
didn't notice any obvious tearing but I need to view
more channels more closely before I draw any
conclusions about running 8774 without Sync to VBlank
mode.
