Alway's recording Live TV

Alway's recording Live TV

Ok so my mythbox (rpm 0.19) is alway's recording and saving whatever i
watch on live tv. This is filling my hd and I keep having to delete
them all by hand.

Why???

and how do i stop it?

because that is how livetv works now.

you don't. theres no need, they will be removed as the Myth's
parameters determine it is relavent to do so.

set autoexpire to 1. If your recordings drive runs double duty with
other things and you wish to keep a specific amount of free space at
all times there is an option for that too (I forget what its called
right now). This will automatically set LiveTV recordings to expire
after 1 day (add them to the expire queue) and will start removing
shows in order on the expire queue when your X amount of space is
reached on the drive.

I just added an entry to the FAQ on the wiki which should hopefully
address all the concerns people had with LiveTV recording everything.
People seem to be more likely to search a wiki for something than a
mailinglist archive, which is probably for the best, since a wiki will
be up to date, whereas a mailinglist archive is always out of date
(because we can't go back and edit old emails in the mailinglist
archives to correct them).

No you don't. Just change the filter so that livetv recordings aren't
shown in your recordings list, and you'll never even see them anymore.

Just like the default expiration for LiveTV is 1 day (a previous post
said to set it to 1 day). So, if these really need changing, it seems
the OP configured the system exactly opposite the way he wanted (because
the defaults are closest to what he wants).

I mentioned that mostly to make sure he made sure it was set to 1 day,
who knows if/why it would be different, but better to check and be
sure right?

Are you sure? When I first installed mythtv a few months ago, it showed
all the live recording in the list, though I suppose it's possible that
I accidentally changed the filter when doing the initial setup.

Yeah. I'm not saying it was wrong to say it, just trying to imply that
people shouldn't change these settings and then complain about always
recording LiveTV... :)
