LiveTV on HD channel?

I'm able to get LiveTV to work on the SD channels over firewire. The
image fills the 4x3 screen on my latop. On HD channels I get audio, a
blue screen and an X bad param error on a shared memory segment.

I presume this is because the size and resolution of the HD image.

Do I need to tell Myth to scale the image somehow?

What's the exact error? If you show the messages in your frontend log,
I could probably say for sure, but my guess is that your video card
cannot handle images of the size required for HD.

The exact error is

VideoOutputXv Error: CreateXvShmImages(): XvShmCreateImage() failed to
create image of the requested size.

It's no surprise that it cannot display a 1920x1080 image on a 1024x768
display. Still there should be a way to scale it. Xine manages to do it
on the same hardware.

I watch 1080i using 720p output.

As I presumed: http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/1190

You need a better video card or better video card drivers.
