No data in mythweb program listings?

Hi all,

I'm suddenly having an issue with mythweb where in all channels are showing "NO DATA". According to the backend status, I should have guide data until 2005-11-14 03:12 (14 days).
I've run mythfilldatabase several times and am getting the same results. My first thought was database corruption, but I ran mysqlcheck and didn't turn up any errors in mythconverg.

Any ideas as to where to go next would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Do you have listing in mythfrontend? Direct evidence trumps indirect.

First figure out if there's /any/ data at all.

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, it may be a day or two before I can ask someone to look at
Mythfrontend. If I could have checked it would have done it first thing.
Is there any other way to verify the integrity of the data, or to just
rebuild the database altogether that doesn't involve using mythfrontend?

Thanks,

How about:

mysql -u mythtv -pmythtv mythconverg \
-e 'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM program WHERE starttime > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP()'

If this gives you any value other than 0, you have data, so it gives us
a place to start.

You can at least check your dd subscription by logging into the back-end
box and doing 'lynx http://localhost:6544' and looking at the
second-last group of results. It will indicate how many days of data
you have in your database and when your dd subscription expires, as in:

Last mythfilldatabase run started on 2005-10-31 03:33 and ended on
2005-10-31 03:34. Successful.
There's guide data until 2005-11-13 23:30 (13 days).
DataDirect Status: Your subscription expires on 12/12/05 21:30:05

If there is a problem with mythfilldatabase then you will get a message
in place of "Successful" that hints at what's wrong.

Re: No data in mythweb program listings? [In reply to]

Hi Michael and Chris,

First of all, thanks very much to both of you for these suggestions!

Michael, when I try the query you suggested, I get:

| COUNT(*) |
+----------+
| 28794 |

Chris, the local URL you provided yields the following:

Last mythfilldatabase run started on 2005-10-31 07:14 and ended on
2005-10-31 07:15. Successful.
There's guide data until 2005-11-14 03:12 (14 days).
DataDirect Status: Your subscription expires on 01/17/2006 09:04:02 PM

The only other things I can think to add are:
1. I was initially experiencing severe slowness with mythweb when opening
the channel listing. After playing around, I was able to significantly
improve performance by enabling output compression in php.ini. I made that
change about 3 days ago and all seemed to be well until last night, so I'm
not sure whether it has any bearing.

2. The mythlink.sh script is also not working, and it almost seems as if it
is not getting data either. When I run it, I get the following:

Done RM
Skipping /tv/2013_20051026150000_20051026153000.nuv
Skipping /tv/2031_20051030010000_20051030013000.nuv

That's all the info I have thus far.

Thanks again,

--Al

Obviously your problem is not a lack of data.

A few things come to mind:

1) Is the web server running on the back-end machine? If not, then
you need to tell MySQL to allow connections from external machines.

2) Did you put the mythconverg user and password in the conf.php file
in mythweb's config directory?

3) Have you checked the back-end mythtv-setup to see if the listings
are actually associated with a capture card? I haven't checked, but
I'm guessing that mythfilldatabase only looks at the listings config
and would therefore download data even if you had no card, but
mythtv-backend and/or mythweb will only show you episodes you can
actually record.

4) Have you maybe told mythtv or mythweb to show you only your
favorite channels but then forgot to mark any of them as favorites?

Recently I noticed that I wasn't getting data for the last 2 or 3
hours of each day. I ended up pushing back the time at which
mythfilldatabase is run (I currently have the frontend running it) a
few hours, and it seems to have solved the problem. If I remember
right, it's now running between 6 and 8 am EST. This may or may not be
the same problem you're having, but I hope it helps.
