Svideo or RCA

Svideo or RCA

Hi all

I have 2 video cards - an Nvidia GeForce FX5200 128Mb with DVI and RCA
out - and a Nvidia GeForce2 MX 400 64Mb with SVideo out. As I cannot
utilise the DVI port, which is better - RCA or SVideo for TV out? I'll
have a SBLive! 5.1 for the audio side of things on my MythTV box....

definitely s-video ... you won't get HD out of it (you're limited to a
480i signal), but it's still better than composite (rca-style)

s video usually has the better signal quality, richer color cleaner image
however cheap cable and long distance will negate the improvement
A simple a/b/comparison should provide the answer.

Svideo it is. The run to the TV will be quite short so I should be OK
with the image quality.

Also note that there may be a difference in the quality of the picture
produced by the TV encoder chips on the 2 cards. I'd recommend doing a
comparison; the best S-video cable in the world won't compensate for a
poor picture. Garbage in, garbage out!
