Brigthness problem

ref: asus kv8 deluxe amd64
ATI 9600 pro
ivtv 0.35l
myth 0.18.1

I have mythtv working well. The only problem is when I watch tv the image is
very dark. If I press G a message comes <adjust recording brightness 50 %>. In a
couple of second the brigthness is adjusted ok without doing anything. In
summary the 50% is correct but until I press the G it doesnot take effect. Why?

The recording is dark and I can not adjusted (or know how to :-()

I try all the key binding. They work as expected.

Any tips even out of topic that help me to understand tv controls under mythtv/X
are appreciated!

TIA

In mythweb you can control the settings for brightness, hue, color etc....

works perfect.

I'm not sure why that brightness control doesn't immediately take affect.

You can try the firegl app to adjust gamma instead, which if you
launch as root I believe should be persistent across logging in and
out of X.

Also there is always the option of just adjusting it on your TV/monitor ;)

Patrick,

The controls work me also my question is <G> According to keys.txt file "rotates
between the various Picture Adjustments (Color, Hue etc) for recording. These
values affect the look of the resulting .niv file, and are independent of the
playback picture settings"

If I am watching live TV when I start the tv seems to be reading from the
buffer, the picture is dark and the "quality even may be different" is
essentially impossible to watch. Now if I press the G key <adjust recording
brightness and the value is setup at 50%> show up. Without doing anything
suddenly I get a perfect picture. Same happens with all the channels. If I
change channels and come back to the previous one I have to press G again. The
buffer when I move backward shows what I saw in TV dark and also good picture
that corresponds to the time i press the G key.
In summary. I can get a good picture and I can record in the buffer a good
picture. If I do schedule recording the quality is terrible it seems that the
recording is like the liveTV without pressing the G key.

Regards,

Mario,

I as wrote to Patrick the problem is that is not darkness and bad quality all
the time. As soon as I press the G key everything changes. If I do a schedule
recording is terrible the brightness and quality. If I tried to corrected with
the F key and increase brightness 100% the brightness increases but it is not
watchable. The quality is affected.
My question is what else I am doing pressing the G key than just activating the
brightness?
Why when in LiveTV the picture is so bad before I press the G?
I can probably answer partially the last question. What I am watching in live TV
is the immediate recording of the TV signal which is very bad. When I do
schedule recording is the same. If in life TV I press the G key everything is ok
including the "immediate recording' that I can watch with P < >. In schedule
recording nobody is there to press the G key and therefore the recording is not
good.
Why?

TIA

Regards,

Re: Brigthness problem [In reply to]

Hmm, now that seems odd to me. I thought that hitting G activated xv
brightness/contrast controls. XV controls would only take affect on a
picture already there,so going back in your buffer shouldnt make a
difference.

You've got me here....
