Xawtv works, but live TV in MythTV does not (cause: audio issues?)

I wasn't even aware that this tool supported external scripts. I'm
not that level of Myth user yet, so I don't think I have one. I'm not
sure that this is the problem either, because I've tried removing all
channels, and Live TV runs for a few seconds, then exits back to the
menu.

Then I added just a channel 3, because the documentation says this
must exist even if it's not used. Still I get the same results. It's
a very touchy configuration. I'm not sure why I was able to watch
live TV work for that one ~5 second splice, and why it doesn't work
now. Xawtv works every time.

Do the frontend 'Player Settings' apply to live TV? The default
player is set to "mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv %s". Here is a
piece of mythbackend.log:

It appears as if MythTV only tolerates my disfunctional audio
sometimes, and other times it refuses to do video in the absense of
audio, without even asking me whether I want to opt out of audio. I
may be forced to get the audio working right now.

I thinks that's the MythVideo player setting you're looking at. Has
nothing to do with playing back Myth recordings or LiveTV.

Did you do what this said? It's kind of important...
