Choice TV on DVB-S

Originally scheduled for 02Jul, the Choice TV website claims they
actually went live on the Freeview satellite in the early hours of this
morning. But a channel scan isn't finding them. Have others been
successful?

My experience the same...

A hdhomerun channel scan finds them and shows it is broadcasting.

1407 on Mux 36.

Not sure when this was added to that page:

"** Freeview Satellite update - 5/7/12 **

Kordia has now completed the switch over. Technical satellite
information is as follows:

Satellite: Optus D1 @ 160°E
Frequency: 12456.2 MHz
Symbol rate: 22.5 Msym/s
FEC: 3/4

The set-top decoder box will be able to analyse this carrier and
separate out the services/channels within it, including Choice TV.

Depending upon what decoder you have (there are many on the market
that are a mix of 'official' and 'unofficial') you may or may not need
to manually scan for the channel.

At the same time Freeview are working on an EPG update for Choice TV
satellite that is still ongoing, and due to be completed next week."

I just ran my scripts to scan all the DVB-S and DVB-T frequencies and
it is definitely not there on DVB-S 1245600 Hz.

Here is my script to scan the Freeview DVB-S frequencies:

#!/bin/bash

# Scan all Freeview satellite frequencies for channel information.

# Transponder frequencies (Hz)
declare -a DVB_S_FREQS=(12456000 12483000)
declare -a FREQS=${DVB_S_FREQS[*]}

# Adapter number of DVB-S / DVB-S2 card.
ADAPTER=3

# LNB frequency (Hz)
LNB_FREQ=10750000

# Symbol rate
SYMBOL_RATE=22500

# Output file to store the results of the scan.
OUTPUT_FILE=freeview_satellite_scan.txt

if [ -e "$OUTPUT_FILE" ] && [ -f "$OUTPUT_FILE" ] ; then
rm "$OUTPUT_FILE"
fi

for a in ${FREQS[*]}; do
echo [Tuning to $a Hz] | tee -a "$OUTPUT_FILE"
dvbtune -f $(($a-$LNB_FREQ)) -s $SYMBOL_RATE -p h -m -c $ADAPTER
-tone 0 2>1 >/dev/nul &
DVBTUNE_PID=$!
sleep 1
scan-s2 -c -q -a $ADAPTER | tee -a $OUTPUT_FILE
kill $DVBTUNE_PID >/dev/nul
done

and the results:

The only place ChoiceTV shows up is still DVB-T on 594000 Hz.

Thanks everyone for the sanity check.

I've since checked their Twitter[0] and Facebook[1] pages, and
apparently some people are able to receive it, but we're far from alone
in not getting it even after manual scans.

It's not on the satellite so I can't see how anyone can be getting it that
way - everyone gets the same signal. Probably those who are saying they are
getting it are getting it via DVB-T.

Steve

Supposedly it is on the satellite but it is missing any EIT data and is
not listed in NIT either so many receivers do not pick it up.

Try manually adding it - it's on 12456H

PIDs:
Video: 0514
Audio: 0652
PCR: 0514

I have yet to confirm these details myself but I will try later
tonight.

This one (0795, no name) should be ChoiceTV.

Myth does not work directly with the PIDs AFAIK.

I didn't want to suggest manually editing the database :) But that's
what I will be doing to try it out.

I am currently watching ChoiceTV on DVB-S so it *is* definitely broadcasting. It has no channel name or EPG, so it is easy to miss on a scan. The PIDs posted above were correct. SID is 795.

Kordia and/or FreeviewNZ have completed the provisioning and a
mythtv-setup channel scan now finds Choice TV.
