Re: mythfrontend closes unexpectedly [In reply to]

That's a dmesg log not a mythfrontend log. Check out whats in the
myth log file.

The line about RPC is to do with NFS mounting - if you don't use NFS
then no big deal.
Two errors at 31/32 seconds are to do with an ATI Radeon video card.
Google suggests it might be a bug in xserver-xorg-driver-ati
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/linux/+bug/507148

That is not your mythfrontend log. Try giving us that...

I do see a radeon error, presumably you are using an ATi video card, tsk tsk.

I've not had any problems with 256.44. Maybe its cause they are stated as 254.44 or driving an ATI card?

Re: mythfrontend closes unexpectedly [In reply to]

Have been doing a lot of testing, 256.44 are fail in a lot of ways on
a wide range of hardware. Nvidia did a pre-release of 256.52 this
morning nz time, which I am hoping fixes things. Testing tonight.

Ahhh. That's on Maverick. Is anyone promoting Maverick as being stable yet?

So its an error relating to an ATI radeon card. If your onboard is
ATI then perhaps there was a driver update?

If its not ATI then why is the machine loading anything about radeon?

googling this error seems to indicate it is a GL error. Perhaps
turning off opengl rendering would "fix" it.

Or reverting the update that introduced a new driver for your ATi card?

OK thanks, Now where in the xfce can I turn off opengl? I have looked at
all the "trees" and only see the"woods" now!

Reverting adaily auto-build, never done that before.. I will try loading
the previous kernel option from the grub menu.. didn't think of that
before.

Will try this all tonight.

Well I have been running our frontend off the live CD for the last
week. It seems to have settings persistence when the frontend is
powered off, which is good. So... How do we know when a fix is
implemented successfully? Don't want to risk depleting the WAF.

Well I have been running our frontend off the live CD for the last week
- with no remote support. It seems to have settings persistence when
the frontend is powered off, which is good in that respect. So... How
do we /really/ know when a fix is implemented successfully? Don't want
to risk depleting the WAF again.
