Mux 3 signal - Wellington

Hi all

I used to be able to get good signals (typically 48 - 51%) on all
freeview terrestrial channels. However, recently I have had a much
lower signal (~ 35%, high BE, often no LAM lock) on all channels on
Multiplex 3 (i.e. Maori, Prime etc.). Coincidentally, this changed
seemed to occur on the weekend before Prime was introduced. I noticed
it (but did not realise it was a long term problem) before I started
scanning for Prime etc.

Now, a channel scan usually finds the channels, and I get the EIT data,
but cannot view any of these channels. Channels on mux 1 and 2 are all
good signals and good pictures as before.

Can anyone suggest why this might have occured, and how I might
diagnose/fix the problem? I am in Wellington, northern suburbs if this
helps...

Thanks

David

I experiencd something similar. I am in Papakowhai (Porirua Basin) and found
that my card had locked onto the repeater transmitter at Baxters Knob ...
there is not a great deal of angular difference between KauKau and Baxters
Knob at my location.

Making sure that the card was tuning the correct transmitter (Mt Kaukau)
fixed all my problems. I now get 50% plus signal with 0 BE and very good
stable pictures on rabbit ear antenna. I have line of sight path to both
Kaukau and Baxters Knob.

Regards

Tony Sauri

Tony - thanks for the suggestion. Was the fix simply a matter of moving
the antenna? Or is there something I can do in the myth setup to force
the correct transmitter? I have a fixed UHF aerial in the garage, that
was in the house when we bought it. I don't think it has moved.

Here are the relevant bits from my SQL tables:

SELECT `mplexid`, `frequency` FROM `dtv_multiplex`
mplexid frequency
1 690000000
2 706000000
3 714000000
4 762000000
5 730000000
6 778000000

SELECT `name`, `mplexid` FROM `channel`
name mplexid
TV ONE 1
TV2 1
TVNZ 6 1
TVNZ 7 1
TV3 PLUS1 2
TV3 2
C4 2
Maori Television 6
Prime 6

For Mt KAukau you need to make sure that your card tunes the signals at
690000000 706000000 778000000

Hope this helps.

Well, it turns out that I had the right settings, but I have some sort
of aerial wiring problem. I haven't got to the bottom of it yet, but it
seems that the problem is here rather than in settings.

Thanks for the help - it got me working on this and I am now heading in
the right direction.

Cheers

David
