Multi-standard DVB frontend support?

Hi,

Apologies for cross-posting to the dev list, but it seemed appropriate.

I'm wondering if there are any plans for support of multi-standard
frontends? I came across
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.video-input-infrastructure/45723/match=290ewhen
looking for clues as to why my PCTV 290e stopped working when I
upgraded my Fedora 15 (now 16) combined backend/frontend server to a 3.x
kernel and it mentions that it was introduced in Linux DVB API v5.4 or
something.

/ Niklas

One week with no replies, figured I'd bump this at least once. :)

None currently. But my understanding is that there is a command
line utility which can switch the mode of the card.

Didn't help, unfortunately - mythtvsetup still complains:

2012-05-13 17:25:32.385665 E FE_GET_INFO ioctl failed

The backend says:

DVB API Version 5.5, Current v5 delivery system: DVBC/ANNEX_A

...so the card should be set to DVB-C already, or at least a variant of
DVB-C. Is it possible that the kernel module simply doesn't understand the
v3 API? Or is v5 backwards compatible?
