What do you mean by "lack of user level access"?

Please remove your signature or at least properly delimit it
and limit it in size. It detracts from your actual message.

Cheers,

Allan.

The phrase you need to look for is "role-based
authentication". I do not see how adding Wordpress helps here.

Allan.

Re: Wordpress plugin: mythweb [In reply to]

During my investigations and analysis I reviewed drupal joomla wordpress
phpnuke and quite a few others. Drupal came out on top with a stong lead
over second place. Admittedly drupal is a framework and requires you to
instal modules to extend it. But there are hundreds and it was designed and
built from the ground up as an extensible multisite multiuser cms

Www.nafof.org.uk is just one site built with drupal.

Please excuse brevity and mistakes, this email was composed on a mobile

Yes, but integration with mythweb would be severely non trivial.

And... 51 lines to add a one line reply?

Please consider trimming your quotes.

Re: Wordpress plugin: mythweb [In reply to]

I don't think that it is easier to add wordpress to mythweb then creating a userlevel for mythweb. I think it doesn't exist, cause of nobody of the dev's needs it.

If you want do it by yourself and create a patch, i think if it is well coded it will be included in mainline mythweb!

I also think it's not to complicated... create a user tabel in the database (where the user, password, level and session is stored), create a login page where a session is created, when scheudling a recording check the session, if the user is allowed to do that, and also by the settings page!

I think of writing a plugin for wordpress that can read mythtv DB and sort-of look like mythweb, not the other way around

I have had quick looked at mythweb's source code, and i have decide not to copy the code as i could streamline it better as a wordpress plugin

Whatever is added to mythweb should also consider all of mythtv to
extend its use to all interfaces. It doesn't make much sense to put
the work into add roles in one place that do not make sense for
another. I believe this is the reason it hasn't been implemented, yet.
It's a much larger project than it originally seems.

and the only reply to this one is from one of the lead designers of MythWeb:

And search the list for "multiuser" and "multi-user" and "multi user".

Just keep in mind, there's /not/ a lot of bloat, and infact the models
are practically as light as they can be, it's always changing, and
it's a fair bit of work to keep up.

And second, it's a 15-30 minute job to add the user support to mythweb
that you want, the problem is people want unified users in
mythfrontend and mythweb, and that's non-trivial.

Third, We also do not want to support 'joe public' usage. That's not
covered by fair use and trunk mythweb locks down if it detects that
it's being indexed by a search engine.

I am not say true Internet-based 'joe public', but hotel/motel style 'joe public' or the hopeless family member
