It looks good!

1) When used in the "Delete Recordings" context,
the title is still "Watch Recordings",
and the freereport and usedbar are missing.

Looking at the code, the "pagetitle" textarea et c.
aren't explicitly loaded, so there is no opportunity
to customise layour based on m_type ?

Were you going to have a different window in the XML
for "deleterecordings", or have customisable elements?

2) Arrow Right on the recordings used to bring up a menu.
Now, it goes back to the titles pane.

3) Escape from recordings now changes focus back to titles,
and another escape exits the screen.

It was discussed and pretty much agreed upon in IRC to lose the delete
recordings page entirely, instead offering a reverse sort option from the menu
in Watch Recordings. I didn't want to get rid of it at the same time as the
new screen was committed, instead I was going to see how people liked the
alternative.

In all honesty the reason why the progress bar etc and reverse sort options
are missing is simply because I forgot. I'll add them soon.

The new behaviour. I announced the changes in an earlier message to the list
to try and prepare everyone, though I still expect some muttering over the
decision.

In a very quick summary the arguments are this:
- In simply could not work alongside the endless variations on layout that the
new screen offers. In a horizontal or grid layout of the recordings right
would be needed to move right etc. I don't want to stifle debate, but we've
discussed this to death in IRC and a little in the earlier thread.
- The old behaviour was unique to this screen and inconsistent with navigation
everywhere else.

SELECT still moves from the group list to the recording list and we might add
an optional setting which causes SELECT to display the recording menu instead
of immediately starting playback.

INFO displays the recording menu. I preferred the idea having a single button
for menus for consistency (MENU) and combining the two menus in some way, or
changing which is displayed depending on which list has focus.

This behaviour was requested by a few people in light of the above.

Aah. I missed that.

I am tempted to re-create the "Manage Recordings" screen.
(we used to have that as a menu item, though despite
the name, it just opened a "Delete Recordings" screen)

I would like one where the focus is on changing the metadata,
invoking trans-coding jobs, archiving recordings to the Video
plugin's storage area, et c.

But I will see how my wife and I cope with the new direction.

I started to add a progressbar in default/recordings-ui.xml,
but then decided it would be too cluttered in there.
Plus, I couldn't actually get its value to update :-(

Aah yes. I think I remember now.

I will have to train us to use the Menu and Info keys more often :-)

Re: mythtv commit: r19603 - in trunk/mythtv by stuart [In reply to]

I just compiled and installed this, and it segfaults every time I try
to enter into the Watch Recordings screen. I have two frontends, one
works fine (Ubuntu 8.04), the other segfaults consistently (FC8),
regardless of theme. I did a make clean and make distclean, and also
recompiled for debug release, so I don't think it's that. Reverting to
19602 works.

MythTV Version : 19620
MythTV Branch : trunk
Library API : 0.22.20090108-1
Network Protocol : 43
QT Version : 4.4.3
Options compiled in:
linux debug using_oss using_alsa using_arts using_jack using_backend
using_directfb using_dvb using_firewire using_frontend using_hdhomerun
using_hdpvr using_iptv using_ivtv using_joystick_menu using_lirc

using_xvmcw using_bindings_perl using_bindings_python using_opengl
using_vdpau using_ffmpeg_threads using_libavc_5_3 using_live
using_mheg

If it helps, the one that works has:

MythTV Version : 19620
MythTV Branch : trunk
Library API : 0.22.20090108-1
Network Protocol : 43
QT Version : 4.3.4

using_mheg

Backtrace attached.
