Reset display when changing channels?

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a stupid question. I have MythTV running with
an onboard ATI x1250 graphics chip. I get video distortion when a
channel change results in a change in source resolution. Eg: Changing
from SD to HD live TV. Or changing from HD (1440x1080) to HD
(1920x1080).

This distortion or corruption continues until I exit live TV and
then go back in (so the starting channel has changed to the channel I
wish to view) or from live TV I go into the guide and back out again.

I can only assume that when exiting the guide, some function is
called to re-initialise the playback rendering? I would like to
tinker with the source to try to eradicate the issue (for me at
least), by doing a similar re-initialisation when changing channels
results in a source resolution change.

Can anyone on the list give me a helping hand on exactly where to
start and what to look for? I have perused the source but am feeling
a little overwhelmed. :)

Regards,

Mike

Which driver are you using?

Have you tried the latest Catalyst driver, 8.5?

Hi Stuart,

Yes, this is the case with both the version 8.4 and 8.5 fglrx drivers.

Ok, I can reproduce this on my Ati x1250 frontend, I didn't notice it until I
started browsing the satellite channels in livetv since they seem to change
resolution more than the terrestrial ones.

I'll submit a bug report to ATi and you might want to do the same, look at the
changelog for instructions. Meanwhile someone might suggest a short term fix
which can be used in MythTV.

Sorry to bring back this question again, but this is really the only
reference I've found regarding this problem. I'm experiencing the very same
problem with my ATI X1250 (MythTV 0.20), and I'd like to know what's the
status on this. Could you confirm if this issue has been solved any way in
MythTV side?

I'd like to know if i.e. this issue has been solved in 0.21 by doing some
trick.

Regards,
Eduard
