The only way I could see the programid being useful in deciding between
don't record and never record is if you're trying to find out if it's a
generic episode (which are ignored for duplicate matching). If that's
the case, rather than rely on the user understanding the Schedules
Direct mechanism for specifying a generic program, why not just add the
interpreted information (i.e. the generic column--which is also used for
non-SD data) rather than the raw data?

a) Never thought of it.
b) Knowing the ProgramID could be usefull for other reasons, otherwise
why has it appeared as a column in the Recorded Programs page?

Because it maps to a file on the drive. That said, I really want to
remove it personally, I just never bothered talking to others about
that yet.

What kind of file? Is this some new feature in 0.21?

But it does help waste (IMHO) a good a good bit of the screen width on
Recorded Programs. :)
