Screen Flickers

Hi! I have a small problem. I'm using svn Revision 14488. It seems
like after upgrading to this, while watching LiveTV, if I go into the
"Info" menu (which displays the Program Guide, Picture in Picture,
Previous Channel, etc), the menu flickers.

Also, the volume box flickers, along with captions on the bottom of
the screen, such as "SPECIAL REPORT - Presidential Address...". It
also looks like the text for everything that flickers isn't clear.
It's not like a refresh rate flicker...it's just sort of flickers a
couple of times every couple of seconds.

I was wondering if anybody else happened to come across this and if
anybody has any ideas. I'm going to see if there's a ticket open
relating to this, but thought this would be a good place to start.

Thanks,
Mike

Deinterlacing? Search archives.

You are probably using bob-deinterlacing, with many display devices
it causes a shimmer in the OSD. Try one of the other deinterlacers
if the shimmer bothers you. I've long wanted to fix this artifact,
which is possible, but it's never been high enough on my priority
list that it actually gets done.

Well...This makes sense, but to change that now in the SVN version has
been redone. There's a "Current Video Playback Profile" and a bunch
of resolutions.

Is there some documentation that explains what all of this means?

Thanks!
Mike

Re: Screen Flickers [In reply to]

Also....i just flipped the 'profile' to cpu+++ and changed the
'de-interlacing' to kernel for both selections.

This seemed to do the trick. I suppose I was just thrown off because
of the new 'profiles' in the playback now.

Thanks,
Mike

I just wanted to second the documentation question. I feel a little lost
going through all the new -vid options. Do we have any best practice
suggestions or something along those lines? I have an X2 3800 and 7300GS
and had pretty poor performance using the default settings. I got back to
something similar to what I had before... but it was really a trial and
error sort of process for me.
