LiveTV recordings

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about livetv recording. From what I have read when a user press the record "r" button the recording is toggled and a scheduled recording is started with end time to the nearest half hour, and of course the start of recording is recorded in the database. Of course this behavior causes the recording to be in chunks.

I got that information from here:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/LiveTV

What I really want to know, is there a way to configure mythtv (without alterng the code) to do this recording in a single file?

If not I think that I will have to join all the recording files when the recording is off, or is there a better way?

Best Regards,
Ahmed Toulan.

that is the situation if you have no programme data
if you have, then the programme is recorded in one file

Yes but my question is if the user wants to record a whole show (without having EPG). Is it possible to have it in one file (by any means) ?

I believe you can schedule a manual recording on channel X at time Y
for length Z minutes.
It's not pressing one button on live tv... but it lets you record a
large show in one file.

Really, this is a question for mythtv-users.

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/156994#156994

and

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/commits/153279#153279 (pay
particular attention to the 2nd paragraph)

and

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/commits/162071#162071

(so, now, it's broken on the half-hour instead of the 60-minute mark)
