Ticket #1549 - Font size preferences are ignored in most places
|
|
I opened ticket #1549 at the weekend, which has been invalidated without any comment as to why it's invalid ----- The font size preferences in the Appearance settings are ignored in lots of places (EPG, program finder, watch recordings, mythwelcome, mythvideo, mythgallery, lots of other places). This means that if you have the physical display size set correctly in xorg.conf on a very low DPI display (e.g. a 28" PAL TV) these fonts are rendered unreadably small and there appears to be no way to change them. ----- This _is_ a problem for 2 reasons: 1. At the moment there is no way to change the font size for much of the UI without kludging the display's DPI in the X config. (This is bad - no application should require the user to lie about their setup, especially in a global configuration file that will adversely affect all other applications) 2. Myth provides controls to change the font sizes used in the UI - why provide these controls at all if they are just going to be ignored by most of the UI. Very counter-intuitive - if a control is provided the user will expect it to actually work. I'm ok with tickets being invalidated if they are genuinely invalid, but in that case the report needs to have some comment left in it as to why the ticket is believed to be invalid. I can't see a way of adjusting these font sizes - if there isn't a control for adjusting the font sizes then shouldn't there be one and if there is one already maybe it needs to be moved so it's next to all the other font size controls. (Before anyone gets defensive, I'm not saying the ticket *is* valid, I'm just asking for insight and discussion on why it might not be). -- - Steve xmpp:steve [at] nexusuk sip:steve [at] nexusuk http://www.nexusuk.org/ Servatis a periculum, servatis a maleficum - Whisper, Evanescence _______________________________________________ mythtv-dev mailing list mythtv-dev [at] mythtv http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-dev
