could someone check permissions on github as I still can't directly
checkout 0.25 or fixes/0.25
---
git clone -b fixes/0.25 git://github.com/MythTV/mythtv.git
Initialized empty Git repository in
/updates/2012/release/git/git:/github.com/MythTV/mythtv.git/
fatal: 'fixes/0.25': unable to chdir or not a git archive
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fetch-pack from 'fixes/0.25' failed.

master branch works no problem (0.26pre) but I want to stick with the
stable branch for a while longer without having to go to to the github
browser and download a tarball...

Comment:

If you can clone the repository, you can always just 'git checkout
fixes/0.25' manually, without doing so as part of the cloning process.

After deeper checking noticed version of GIT was 1.5.x

upgrading to 1.7.4 solved issue...
