How did you do this? I tried browsing with the file manager, but I don't see
Samba shares.

Not exactly what you want, but I've just discovered that OS2008
automatically finds and lets you access Samba shares. This will work
fine on a LAN, but probably won't be as useful for Bluetooth dialup.

I see them with the File manager. On the left, there's a tree below
Internal memory card and Bluetooth. It's called Shared something, IIRC.
This tree disappears when there are no Samba servers in the LAN.

This is a new feature of OS2008, as far as I can tell.

Yes, I can confirm, I can browse samba/windows resources. However it takes
some time when this "shared" menu can be seen. It probably does some
scanning first etc
