I just want to buy a N800 but Nokia don't let me do!

This is the history:

I live in Brazil, so I can't buy a N800 here. I have a Nokia developers
discount code... I got into Nokia's web shop and I tryed to buy the N800
using my credit card, but I would like to send it (shipping address) to a
friend of mine who lives in Norden, California because he is comingo to
Brazil next month and he could bring it to me. But guess what guys: in
Nokia's web shop my shipping address must be the billing address!!!!!!!
Since I'm from Brazil, my shipping address is from Brazil (and not from
Norden, California) and Nokia doesn't ship to Brazil!
In Summary: I have an international credit card (and money!), I have a
discount code, I have a friend living in US that is coming to Brazil (he
doesn't have a credit card with billing address in US to!) and I REALLY want
a N800. Nokia doesn't let me to!

Could anyone help me in anyway ?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?

Thanks in advance,
Jesus

I can't help you at all, but I have a couple of thoughts:
1) Have you tried calling Nokia? Maybe they'll let you do it over the phone.
2) Why don't you just ship it to your address in Brazil?
3) If it's a friend of yours, have him buy and give him the money when he
gives you the N800. The only reason you can't ship to an address other than
your billing address is to prevent fraud--ie, make sure you aren't the guy
in the Norden with a stolen credit card. If you trust your friend enough to
bring the device, I'm sure you can trust him enough to buy it. If he can't
afford it, send him the money paypal or western union or something ahead of
time.

Don't know if you read all my mail:

1- No, i didn't called Nokia yet... maybe it is a way out. The thing is: how
can i call a 1-800 number from Brazil? (maybe skypeOut...)
2- 'cause Nokia does not ship to Brazil the N800. And, if it did, i would
have to pay 60% more just for tax!
3- No, I'm not the "the guy in the Norden with a stolen credit card". My
friend is just a student in US, so he doesn't have a credit card from US.
His credit card is also from Brazil, with a brazillian billing address!!

Thanks again!

Sounds like you need a US-based credit-card wielding third-party that is willing to pay for the device and either give it to your friend in California, or ship to you in Brazil and for you to then at some point transfer funds to the third party to cover their costs.

Not an ideal situation at all, but possibly the only option as your friend has no valid US credit card. :(

Yes, had the same problem (i.e wanted to pay with my valid card and ship
to someone else because they don't want to ship it to my country). I
think this is some sort of conspiracy on Nokia side :-) Maybe they don't
want to sell it because they know it will be faulty and they also know
their support is poor so why not to cut it at the beginning and don't
sell anything to strangers who are not worthy? Just kidding :-) I'm
still happy for the discount code.

I found nice person in Germany. The price for this shipping/billing
address problem was 8.60 EUR additional postage plus 4.01 EUR on PayPal
fees (PayPal has no problem with my card) plus wasted time of that nice
person plus my fear that something will go wrong. Quite cheap when
considering the discount and device is fine. But still I was not very
impressed by all those obstacles. And imagine we have this European
Union thing so in theory there are no borders and barriers for people
and trade :-)

So, I guess I need to find some nice person in US with PayPal. I could pay
in advance and send my discount code to this person... This person should
buy the n800 and send it to my friend in Norden. And I must trust the person
to!
Hum... too risky ?!

Better yet, get your friend to recruit this "nice person in US" locally
and avoid shipping costs within the US. Keep in mind that credit card
fraud is rampant world wide and the "nice person in US" will be, or
should be, justifiably wary.

Or get your credit card company to add a billing address to your card...

Even Indiana Jones would be proud to his success of getting 770/800.
I included 5 people to span 4 countries. My voice on the phone is the
reason to fall down and pretend dead. One month later, Nokia has an
opinion that my 770 is obsolete. No, dear Nokia! It values all efforts
of all folks, mine also. I just don't know what to do with those rabbits
I pulled from the hat.

Re: I just want to buy a N800 but Nokia don't let me do! [In reply to]

And the quest continues...
Updating: Last week I finally found an US citizen who could buy the N800 and
ship it to my friend in Norden, California. But there was a little problem
with the credit card (again!) and the order "fail". So I called Nokia to
cancel the order e everything went ok.
Now that the credit card problem was solved the US citizen tried to place
the order again at www.nokiausa.com but guess what: now it says that the
discount code "had already been used".
So I called Nokia again and explained that the discount code wasn't used
because the order was cancelled and that I really needed it back so I could
place a new order... and guess what: they tried everything (at least they
said they did) but there was no way to recover my discount code!
O_O
So yesterday I sent an email to MAEMO team explaining the situation and
let's see if they can recover my discount code.
I could never imagine that buying a N800 would be that difficult! You're
right Zoran, even Indiana Jones would be proud of that and Jack Bauer would
take at least 72 hrs to buy one!

Any news I'll let you know!
