Application manager challenges

I've been trying to get started with installing some additional sw to my N800 using the Application Manager. I can't get the application list refreshed (never succeeded yet) even though I disabled all the repositories that I could (all but the "Nokia Catalog"). Adding/enabling other repositories doesn't help either.

The following text appears in a pop-up:
"Unable to refresh list
Last refreshed list is shown"

This means of course an empty list, since the list has never been updated...

I'm getting the following error message in the Application Manager log file:

osso-application-installer 4.42, UI version 2
E: Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/dists/bora/user/binary-armel/Packages.gz Sub-process gzip received a segmentation fault.
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com bora/user Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com_certified_dists_bora_user_binary-armel_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

I would be more than happy to try to correct the problem as adviced on the last row "apt-get update" if I just could install some terminal to issue the given command.

Any advice how to proceed?

Br,

Timo

Re: Application manager challenges [In reply to]

Thanks for comments. Reboot did not help. Re-flashing doesn't sound like a nice thing, because I just did it on sunday to get rid of wlan problem (no default router)...

Whoa! gzip segfaults?

Smells like a hardware problem. Or maybe a corrupt gzip binary.

Try rebooting. If that doesn't help, try reflashing. If that doesn't
help, return the device as defective.

Before reflashing & returning, wouldn't you want to test the gzip
archive on, say, a desktop using either gunzip or maybe 7-zip?
