wav recording from mic low volume

wav recording from mic low volume

It seems that when recording from the mic input using gstreamer and
the wav encoding yields very quiet recordings. When I switch to iLBC,
record volume is much higher.

This was using my own python + gstreamer code, but I can confirm the
same issue using maemo-recorder.

Device is N800 with OS2008.

Anyone confirm or know what's going on?

BTW, I'm interested by python code that can transform iLBC to
wav or any other more common format :).
