New wiki sysop

Hi all,

jacktanner has been helping out over the past few weeks with the
increased spam count coming into the Maemo wiki (we should probably do
something about that at some stage - anyone have a good idea?) but he
has not been able to delete pages or block users. Jack's been an active
wiki editor for a while now, so it felt like the time had arrived to
appoint him wiki sysop.

There are now 16 sysops, and I've created a list on the maemo.irg team
page. They are:

feri Ferenc Szekely
marcell Marcell Lengyel
qgil Quim Gil
dneary Dave Neary
generalantilles Ryan Abel
jaffa Andrew Flegg
xfade Niels Breet
andre Andre Klapper
finni Olli Finni
andrewfblack Andrew Black
vdvsx Valério Valério
myrtti Miia Ranta
danielwilms daniel wilms
zerojay Jason Carter
amigadave David King
jacktanner Jack Tanner

Cheers,
Dave.

Does this need a +1 (not that it matters coming from a community member
or the Council Chair).

Thanks for bringing it up, Dave.

Tim

No - just an FYI (and also letting everyone know who the sysops are,
since we still need to take care of the wiki, I think).

Cheers,
Dave.

Re: New wiki sysop [In reply to]

maemo wiki is using MediaWiki as a platform, right? Forum Nokia Wiki is
using the same engine and there has been some activities to create
bots/scripts to help maintaining the wiki (one bot for example lists all the
eternal links from wiki pages). Does maemo wiki have some similar tools? or
would it make sense to try out the bots already created for FN wiki on maemo
wiki as well?

best regards
Hartti

I'm not aware of any similar tools for the Maemo wiki.

I'm thinking of proposing some extensions for inclusion in the Maemo
mediawiki install, primarily for spam protection, whenever I get around
to it.

If you could let us know what you're using on FN, that would be great!

Cheers,
Dave.
