Anyone in Amsterdam already?

Anyone in Amsterdam already?

Some questions:

1. How's the weather?2. What's the best way to go to the hotel from the
airport? Shuttle? Taxi? Tram?
3. Where is the best place to get a pre-paid sim card? Airport? Near the
hotel? Any unlimited pre-paid data plan?
4. What's the best way to go to the WesterGasFabriek? Taxi? Bus? Tram?

I wont be there, but having done the research already you can take the
train from the airport for about €3.60 to Central station and the
hotel is right there.

The bus route seems very convoluted on the transit map. It may be
easier to take a taxi. Hopefully somebody will have taken it and can
say for sure, though.

About the weather you can use OMWeather. ;)

About the rest http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_Summit_2009/Location should
help. If not please add the details missing after you get the useful
answers.

It's typical dutch weather so take your rain coats.

You can try to use
http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/

According to that you can take the bus it about 20 minutes travel with
at least 10 minute walk. so it's no ideal.
The walk takes about 30 minutes so the best is to use a bicycle. If
you are in for it's its the best means of travel in Amsterdam but can
be quite a challenge if you are not used to cycling in the traffic.

From the airport, take the train. There are 2 trains, one that stops in
every station that cosst (if memory serves) 3.80 and takes about 45 mins
and another that is an express train which has a â‚¬1 supplement, and only
takes 25 mins or so. That'll bring you to Centraal, where you have
metro, bus & tram to get pretty much anywhere in the city.

From the bus stop on Pr. Henrik Kade (right outside Centraal train
station) the bus #22, destination destination Spaarndammerbuurt, brings
you right to Zaanstraat, which is right beside westerGasFabriek. A 15
minute bus ride.

I know, I was joking :)

anyway, I'll have to take winter stuff with me :\
Here we still have about 25-28C° (Valencia), a bit different than 10-15C° :P

p.s: a, not totally, off-topic question: do you think it would be safe
if someone in the Community/council would keep a copy of all our
contacts (mobile numbers ecc...) just in case? And another usefull
thing would be to have 2 or 3 contacts a person can call in case he
need help.
