Number separators / punctuation

Hi!
I have a Lucene web based search application (Hibernate Search). I would
like to remove number separators / punctuation from the indexes. For
example:
18518 would be the same as 18.518 or 18,518
Dot is the standard separator in my country, comma is standard in other
countries.
How can I accomplish this task?
