Apache solr issue after configuration

hi everyone,

i have configured solr as described in the tutorial on website.
it gave lot of exception for noclassdeffound i resolved them by copying jars
which comes with the solr download

then at last it asked me for velocity-dep.jar i copied that as well. after
all these

it now give me an error

org.apache.solr.common.SolrException: Error Instantiating
QueryResponseWriter, solr.VelocityResponseWriter is not a
org.apache.solr.response.QueryResponseWriter

i tried google but no help from there.

i am using tomcat 6 and solr 3.5.

help is always appreciated.
thanks in advance

jamal.

Re: Apache solr issue after configuration [In reply to]

: org.apache.solr.common.SolrException: Error Instantiating
: QueryResponseWriter, solr.VelocityResponseWriter is not a
: org.apache.solr.response.QueryResponseWriter

If you started with the example solr configuration from Solr 3.5, it
contains refrences to the solr.VelocityResponseWriter which is packaged in
a "contrib" jar (ie: not included directly in the solr.war file)

you will see refrences to solr.VelocityResponseWriter in your
solrconfig.xml that you can delete, or you can fix the paths refrenced
in the <lib /> directives of your solrconfig.xml file to point at where
those contrib jars are actually located on your system.

my config multicore/ac/conf/solrconfig.xml

<luceneMatchVersion>LUCENE_35</luceneMatchVersion>
<lib dir="../../../contrib/velocity/lib" />
...
<queryResponseWriter name="velocity" class="solr.VelocityResponseWriter"
enable="true"/>
</config>

And I still get error:

...

What's wrong?

Thanks in advanced for help!

This is a known issue (my apologies). I wrote up the problem/solutions here:
