understanding how a node determines its role

Hi,

I am trying to understanding how a node decides its role (active
or standby)...

When a node (node1) boots, it will check if it is the preferred node
of a resource group. If so, it will start the resource group unless
auto_failback is off (let's ignore the "legacy" setting) and the peer
(node2) is alive, right? Will it check if node2 is in the active role
for the resource group?

In the above situation, if the administrator run "hb_standby local" on
node1 and then reboot it, it will still try to take over the resource
group when it starts up, right? It means the effect of hb_standby is
not sticky?

For node1, if it is not the preferred node of a resource group but
node2 is dead, it will take over the resource group, right?

Thanks!
