How to add a resource with a paused state

I was trying to add a resource in HA which is a process which runs for hours
but after that it finishes off and i dont want it to start again..

and moreover i want to supply a pause/resume option to this resource.. which
will pause the process, save its state and when resumed will use same info.

some feedbacks about how to do it. can multistate resource help me

Is there shared storage? Can this process fail over? In which
does it depend on other resources?
