Enhanced version of showscores and a major update on the score calculation documentation

Hi

just yesterday I found a way better way to get the scores from ptest.
This new version can not only display normal scores, it can also display
master scores, which seems quite important these days.

It still produces a heck of a lot of logs when executed, but thats just
the "nature" of the commands I use - thats not to change right now :(

Now you can also sort the output by node or resource. Resource is the
default, give "node" as a parameter to sort by node.

Please test and report problems.

Also, I put a major update on the ScoreCalculation page this morning to
make things about scores clearer. Especially concerning groups and
master_slave resources.

Post questions if there's something that's not clear yet.

Re: Enhanced version of showscores and a major update on the score calculation documentation [In reply to]

Hi Dominik,

you know I like your script, but the newest version broke
something:
When a resource name has '.' (dots) in it, the way you split
the $line in the while loop to get the score, node and resource name
doesn't work any more.

Can you send me a line of relevant ptest-output with the pattern
"After" in it. I don't have such in my configuration.

Best regards
Andreas Mock

That might just be. Use dashes ;)

I sent you a PM with the output from my test system.

Well "-" turns out to be "hyphen". At least as of dict.leo.org :)

Nice to read, that I'm not the only one who needs to use the dictionary.

If I'm not running into some nasty cache problem, then this page has not
been updated yet.

Use http://wiki.linux-ha.org/ScoreCalculation instead until it gets updated.

Hi Dominik,

no matter if hyphen or dash I don't want to change my resource naming.
I'm pretty sure you said this as a kind of workaround. ;-)

Yes.

Try the attached version. As long as you do not have another . in your
hostname, this should work. If someone uses dots in both the resource
name and the hostname, this will still not work, but I'm kinda lost in
how to decide what is hostname and what is resourcename then.

Hi Dominik,

I have to disappoint you: It doesn't work. As soon as I have time
I'll investigate it. Resource names are o.k., node names not.

By the way: Hostnames will NEVER have dots by specification, isn't it? :-)

Best regards

Please try and report :)

Well, I saw some people using fqdn for uname -n. Which
specification do you refer to?

Thanks,

Dejan

Hi Dominik,

this looks good now. Thank you for fixing.

One question: Are you able to cache the default stickiness values?
If you determine that every loop it costs time.
The script runs here 5,7 seconds for 18 resources on the DC. That's long.

Best regards

Hi Dejan,

you're completely right. I thought "hostname" == "nodename". But this seems
not to be true. ;-) I meant DNS hostnames. (RFC 1123)
