purpose of logd.cf/ha_logd.cf ?

Can anybody say why at one point, logging options like 'logfile', 'debugfile', were taken out of ha.cf and put in a new logd.cf/ha_logd.cf ?

Why couldn't all options be kept in ha.cf ?

i believe the goal was to create a generically useful tool that could
be used by software other than heartbeat

They have different meaning. In ha.cf they are used by the
heartbeat itself, i.e. the heartbeat (cl_log) would write to
those file directly. Those in logd.cf are read by ha_logd.
Basically, if one says "use_logd yes" then logfile/debugfile
shouldn't be set in ha.cf and there'll be warning otherwise.

And I still think that's a good goal.
