Question about HVR-1600 and stuttering

Howdy all,
Continuing my quest to get the HVR-1600 working perfectly....

From the mythtv wiki:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600

Issues and Problems
2. The first analog capture after modprobe experiences dropped frames
and/or no audio. All subsequent analog captures are fine.

What happens if the subsequent captures are just as bad as the initial?

I've tried adding the startup script further down the page, no luck
there. I've also tried outside mythtv. But for some reason tvtime
and xawtv throw errors and "cat /dev/video0" just results in an
empty file.

I didn't want to just litter this email with a bunch of attachments,
what specifics could I provide?

Thanks,

Scott

You might want to consider updating the drivers. I just installed the
latest v4l drivers and they do work better.

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain%2C_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers

The picture quality is sill disappointing, but they seem more stable.

Thanks! I'm building them now and will test tonight
when I get home.

This worked great, thanks! At least so far ;)
No more jitters, even passed the wife test.

As for picture quality, seems much better than the pvr-350 and 150 I
have. But I'm through directv via svideo so I haven't come to expect
much.

Thanks again for the suggestion and link.

Scott
