Why doesn't the command ivtv-radio -j return?

Is there some detailed documentation on the ivtv* commands?
For example, why does the command to tune the tv,
ivtv-tune -f somefreq
return immediately, but the command to tune the radio,
ivtv-radio -f somefreq -f
does not? It keeps running until I terminate it with Ctrl-C
However the radio (on /dev/radio0) stays tuned correctly after I
terminated the command with Ctrl-C

What does the ivtv-radio options -P and -i do?

I just want to set the frequency for the radio with a command that returns,
just
like with setting the frequency for the tv, because I want to run this
command
from a small GUI program. If the command does not return, the GUI program
will lock up or will need to do odd things like killing the command.

Is there any information on this or anyone around who can answer this?

$ ivtv-radio
Usage: ivtv-radio <options>
Possible options are:
[snip]
-c <command> Command to play audio. This will be processed by
the shell, after substituting %s with the audio device.
Default: "aplay -f dat < %s"

$ ivtv-radio -f nnn.n -c /bin/true

(I think.)

If your GUI is smart enough to fork a child and hook up to it's stdin
and stdout, then maybe

$ ivtv-radio -j -g

is something that would be useful.

Andy
