unable to change the tv standard (SECAM, PAL) when the PVR-X50 is in use.

Hi,

I have one more question about the ivtv driver.

I don't know the exact term (and my English is somewhat incomplete, in
some cases), but when the PVR card is 'in work', it's not possible to
change the tv standard. For instance, v4l2-ctl -s pal)doesn't do anything.
This is not new (I think I did allready research about that on ivtv
0.7.x), but it's still annoying.
I think I remember that this was hard (or impossible) to change, and I
don't remember why.
I this case, I'm searching if a work around is possible, something like
'freezing' the card just the time of the standard change (without really
stopping the mpeg flow, so that the upper layer software could be
unaware of the 'trick').

Is that an uncredible task ? Or at least, a task for the upper layer
software ?

Thanks,
Pascal

If I recall correctly (and Hans might correct me ;-)) this is by
design as the card can not handle this when a capture is in progress.
You always have to stop the capture and then change standard.
