cx18: Temp sensor? and ATSC tuner sensitivity?

Hi Everyone,

I had two quick questions:

1) Is there any way to monitor the temperatures of the cx18 card/chipset?

2) In recent testing I noticed the ATSC tuner sensitivity in two of my TVs
appears to be much better than the tuner on the cx18. Given that one of my
TVs is also a Samsung I found this a bit strange. I was experimenting with
having my ATSC antenna elsewhere in the house and sending the channels over
my internal wiring. The TVs could play the signal just fine when it was
split a few times but the cx18 would not lock unless I removed all but one
split in the line. What would cause such a difference between the cx18
tuner and the one in the TV?

I'm running 2.6.31 stock at the moment.

Thanks,

-Jeff

Not that I am aware of.

Could you please clarify which cx18 device you are using (since that
largely effects which tuner/demod are onboard)?

Assuming you're talking about the HVR-1600, generally speaking, the
perfomance should be comparable to Windows, although admittedly my
previous analysis was restricted to ClearQAM performance. It would be
a helpful exercise if you could boot up Windows and see how it does,
as this will tell us if it's simply a hardware limitation or perhaps
the demod is improperly programmed compared to the Windows driver.

Well that was an oversight, sorry about that. You are correct, the two
cards are HVR-1600s.

I have a different machine with two HVR-1600s that I will drop a HD in and
add windows and try it under the windos driver. I have not played with the
cards in windows before, is there a bundled or recommended app for testing
ATSC under windows or reading signal strength?
