Did I break the list?

Did I misconfigure something? If your messages are not getting thru, please
send email to me directly.

Thanks,
John

Re: Did I break the list? [In reply to]

I don't think so..

I haven't been making much progress.. I switched over
to a ring-buffer like setup for buffers, and it's not
stable yet. It's so not stable that it crashes the
system.

Now it's gone and messed up SOMETHING that makes it so
gcc doesn't even compile it. Looks like kernel headers
or something. sigh.

I need to find time to re-install redhat i suppose.

any word on getting a dump of the windows i2c regs?

Ok, I got both our messages, so it looks OK.

Bummer.

I just built my capture box (MicroATX, Cel1.7, 512DDR, 80Gb, etc.) so I need
to install RH myself. Once I transition my 250 over, I'll be in a better
position to work on some of these issues.

> any word on getting a dump of the windows i2c regs?

Once I get that box built, I'll slap a temp Win98 installation on it and run
the probe myself. As a hardware person, I don't like the cheapi2c hardware
he used (no isolation), so I'm not going to ask anybody else to risk their
boxes.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 350. H-P, I think similar scans need to be done
to see how the extra part(s) on your board is(are) set up. FWIW, it looks
like I can easily get test-clips onto the tuner's leads.

Thanks,
John

Is anybody blocked on lack of a 7115 module? If necessary I should be able to
get things set up to where I can get some captures tonight, but I'm not going
to get home from work until late.

If you're not on the list you can mail me directly.

Thanks,
John

Yep. Oh, sorry, no Windows(tm) in sight here.

Nice.

Unfortunately no news for now. I went back to playing with the
SAA7127 (the bits-to-video component -- Philips calls it a video
encoder; you and I would call it a decoder, I guess.) Not much
luck there; I've only been able to make it display B/W for its
built-in colorbars generator, and the picture I got was kind of
out-of-sync. Alas, as I began a new fiddling-session with the
SAA7127 driver and the datasheet, I suddenly got no picture at
all for what I recall was my last sort-of-improving setup. I
hope I didn't break any gates by forcing some programmably-
bidirectional but layout-wise input-only port (say, RCV1, RCV2)
to output for too long time. Related info bits for those
interested: RTCI is grounded (no spiffy data-connection to the
SAA7115), so is XTALI (so it uses an external clock). Anyway, I
think I'll go back to try getting the decoder driver stop
hanging.

brgds, H-P

No, I'd call it an encoder ("analogizer" is too clunky :) It takes the digital
stream and re-encodes it into the appropriate analog video standard.

I don't have any datasheets handy. Does this mean that the iTVC15 is sending
frame data to the 712x directly? I did skim some info in the 7115 datasheet
that made me think that it could be configured for bidirectional duties.

Yes. There's an 8-bit port (which seems to go to the iTVC15, no
surprise) and clock signals to go with it. They refer to the
data stream as "CCIR 656".

And to be clear, RTCI on the SAA7127 tied to ground means it's
not used. One less thing to worry about. :-)

Great! That's good news.

Thanks,
John
