newbie question WRT Yuan MPG600 == Diamond Xtreme TV PVR550

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to Linux development and to the linux PVR scene so if
possible, please be patient with this dumb question ...

My son acquired a Via ITX motherboard and has built a small system to
run linux apps to support his linux work such as PVR,etc. As part of
this project he installed a Diamond Xtreme TV PVR500 which AFAWCD
is a OEM'ed Yuan MPG 600 ( see
http://www.yuan.com.tw/en/products/vdo_mpg600.htm) for details) which
is supported by the 0.2.0 based ivtv drivers -- but the PCI
information vendor/subtype is different, of course, so changes to the
ivtv.h file are required ( I think). I have reviewed these changes wrt
other cardr postings but after looking at the ivtv 0.2.0 code , I am
somewhat confused about what has to be changed.

IS ther ea clear FAQ that covers this somewhere or other info aI can
review ? I searched the archives buit found nothing specifric to the
diamond cards and their config requirements. Help !!!

cheers~

Paul

Just out of curiousity, how did you decide that the diamond was a
re-branded Yuan MPG-600? I mean, if it is and it works with ivtv, that'd
be awesome, cuz I'd love another working low profile card. But are you
just basing it on looks (the fact that they're both low profile), or do
you have some chipsets and what not to base your idea on?

Brian -

Wow ! Cool - any chance I can get a copy of the working driver or a
copy of the mod's you made to get this to work ?

Any chance we can get this card support put back to the ivtv project ?
Does this make sense ( again, sorry if this is stupid comment , I'm
only an egg).

Thanks for checking and following up on this - since Diamond is a
prolific supplier and this card appears to be cheap, hopefully this is
another good source of PVR cards for the users of IVTV . I bought it
specifically since it was a low profile card , not having any hope that
ivtv would work and resigning myself to run BeyondTV which is supplied
with the card ( yeah ! - I don't have to support the Gates empire!)

thanks -

paul
