Intermittent Shipping Problems

Hi,

I recently switched over to calculating shipping costs based off on
internal shipping lookup tables. Everything seems to work fine except
every now and again an order slides through with no shipping menthod
selected and I can't seem to duplicate the problem. I have the
checkout page set to refresh when the customer enters a zip code. Has
anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to reject an order with
no shipping methid selected?

Thank you

Bill

Tried to switch off Javascript in your browser and place an order?

Not sure which version of IC you are using but one solution is to set a
default shipping method at the top of the checkout page.

There are a few examples in the mailing list archives.

One method suggested by Ed. L that I have used:

[tmp shipcost][shipping noformat=1][/tmp]
[if scratch shipcost == 0]
[value name=mv_shipmode set="some_mode" hide=1]
[/if]

I tried to duplicate the issue by disabling javascript in my browser
by the area to enter your credit card also disappeared so I can't see
how someone could actually place an order with javascript disabled?

Unless there are other payment methods available then it seems unlikely
caused by the Javascript on/off. You did try to reproduce as well by doing a
completely identical order that had the problem? I'm not sure if you have
usertrack switched on but then you can follow quite a bit the route the
person took to place the order ...

Setting a default shipping method (as suggested a moment ago) is also a
solution to at least have a shipping method available when an order is being
placed.

Gert
